Welcome to Mr. FI Guy! You’re probably thinking, “what does FI mean anyway?” Well, simply put, it stands for Financial Independence. This is a slight deviation from the FIRE movement (Financial Independence Retire Early). It’s not my goal to retire as soon as possible, at all costs, with the goal of never working again. Rather, I aspire to become Financially Independent so I can live our best life that is not driven by the need to make money.

I’m here to document my unique journey to financial independence while recognizing life should be enjoyed along the way, not simply endured.

My hope with Mr. FI Guy is to educate and inspire you on your journey to financial independence and a more meaningful life. I want more people to break free from the chains of consumerism, keeping up with the Joneses, and living a “status-quo” existence. Life is too short to spend 40 hours a week, 49 weeks a year, for 30+ years, in a 5×5 foot box. That’s 58,000 hours! 2,450 days! That means you could watch the entire Harry Potter series 2,900 times back-to-back… that’s a lot of Dumbledore.

I am married with no kids, have no debt other than my mortgage, drive a 2002 Pontiac, had 3 pet rats for a while (rats don’t live long), and surpassed a $500k net worth before age 30, if things play out right, it’ll be $600K. I’m putting my MBA to good use doing Corporate Finance at a Fortune 50 company.

My perspective and diverse experiences can help you, wherever you are on your journey to financial independence.. and hopefully, I’ll provide some entertainment along the way.

The days of letting life happen to you are over. Make the decision today to take the road less traveled on a path to freedom and opportunity.
